What is the Good News?
No doubt, it is Jesus Christ and Him crucified! Jesus died for the sins of the world, he was buried and he was raised from the dead according to the power of God (1 Corinthians 15:1-4). It is fact, and recorded in eyewitness accounts.
It is through Jesus death that God would save man. The death of Jesus was God's way of calling all men to him (John 12:32-33). Jesus said in John 14:6 "I am the way the truth and the life and nobody comes to the Father except by me."
Jesus died so that all mankind could be made free from their sins. The bible shows, "All have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23). The scriptures goes further to reveal that "the wages of sin is death" (Romans 6:23). All man-kind would be faced with the expectation of an eternal death had it not been for the selfless sacrifice of our Savior on the cruel cross of Calvary.
Since Jesus did all this for us, we must do something for him. We must accept the free gift of salvation. We accept God's gift by obeying his commands (John 14:15). He told us to believe on him (Mark 16:16); He told us to repent of our past sins (Luke 13:3); He told us to confess Him in the presence of men (Romans 10:9-10); He told us to be baptized for the remission of sins (Matthew 28:19-20 ; Acts 2:38); and finally we must live faithfully until our death (Revelation 2:10). You have heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The word "Gospel" means "Good News". Now that you have heard the good news, what will your response be?
