Breaktime: God is Not Dependent

God is not Dependent
12 If I were hungry I would not tell you, for the world is mine, and all that is in it. 13 Do I eat the flesh of bulls or drink the blood of goats? Psalm 50:12,13

God is overall! The Psalmist is trying to make it clear that God knows all and all is His. God is over all and through all and the author seems almost humorous, telling us God would say if he were hungry. Why would they continuously need to bring their sacrifices to God is the question? Could it be they were trying to suffice the Lord with their sacrifices?

Instead, God isn’t pleased with their outward appearances of sacrifice for He doesn’t need, we do. We are the ones requiring all His provision as we stand before Him. We don’t bring to God because He is in need, we are the ones standing in need. God desires our heart and longs for us to live in relationship with Him.

There is nothing much worse than offering our gifts to God with an entitled heart, thinking we are doing this because God needs it. We offer God our sacrifices because our heart needs to reveal to the Lord our love and honor. God is Spirit and not limited or dependent on the physical like we are.
