Breaktime: Influence

Heart Influencers
for they will take nothing with them when they die, their splendor will not descend with them. Psalm 49:17

Again the Psalmist reminds us that the rich will not be taking their treasure with them. As a matter of fact, nothing will be taken with them or any of us. Keeping this perspective is a lifetime pursuit, especially when the temptation of materialism surrounds us. When we are tempted to be sucked into a belief that the man who dies with the most toys wins, we need this scripture to run through our mind.

The truth is, the man who dies with the most toys still dies. We are all going to face the grave someday, and what matters is the relationships and love we have left behind. When we hear eulogy’s spoken, it’s not about the amount of material accumulation that is being remembered, but the heart influence left behind.

The way another person touches our life is where real significance exists. We all know this truth, but how much of our life was spent building relationships will tell the truth. How much of our heart are we willing to expose and give away with the love Christ has first given us.

We love because he first loved us.  I John 4:19

Allow yourself today the privilege of allowing Jesus’ love to fill your heart. When His love explodes in our hearts, we have no room to live for any other possession.
