Breaktime: It’s all God’s

It’s all God’s

I have no need of a bull from your stall or of goats from your pens,
10 for every animal of the forest is mine,  and the cattle on a thousand hills. Psalm 50:9-10

All objects, from animals, money, or grain that are being brought as a sacrifice, already belong to God. God is the one who owns it all, and if it all belongs to God, then what is left to offer? If something already belongs to God, then it can’t be what God desires.

Our heart is always something God desires as a sacrifice. It may be easier to offer something more tangible than our heart. We can give of our time and even our talent, but our heart is ours. Allowing God in the core of who we are is more complicated than providing the dollar bill as the plate passes.

What could we give God that doesn’t already belong? For some of us, it could be our whole heart, which is the most challenging part, but yet the place where we find true freedom. It is time to consider bringing to God something that doesn’t belong. God has a great need for you, but the offerings brought without our hearts are nothing.
