People who have wealth but lack understanding are like the beasts that perish. Psalm 49:20
Money can’t buy understanding, and even though wealth may exude, it doesn’t mean there is wisdom. Knowledge is a gift that God gives to clarify what He is saying through His word. He brings enlightenment to those who want to follow.
Sometimes we would instead follow our own understanding and ways even when we come to know God. There may be times in our lives where we face his understanding and resist his leadership. This often happens if we like the way we are living and the pursuit we are chasing.
But God says in:
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
The key to understanding is acknowledging His ways. This means we need to be in a teachable place when we come to His Word and allow His truth to become our way. We can choose the truths we will accept and the ones we will reject, but when we choose to deny, there are consequences. We can live beyond the effects of rejecting His word by practicing the truth. God’s truth will make our paths straight.
