Breaktime: Teaching from Experience

Teaching from Experience

13 Then I will teach transgressors your ways, so that sinners will turn back to you. Psalm 51:13

David knew once he experienced the forgiveness of God, he too could teach transgressors. Once David received in his heart that his transgressions were forgiven, he could walk with others to their victory with the Lord. David knew others were walking with the same guilt-ridden heartache he was once walking with.

Don’t we all know people who are walking through life experiencing the weight of their sin? Most people don’t know how to alleviate their burden. Some try to deny or ignore, but it takes a courageous person to admit their wrongdoing. However, we can walk beside people who are caught in the burden of sin with love and grace.

When we experience the forgiveness of God, we, in turn, share the same teaching with others. It is not our role to judge or condemn the sin of others, but help lead them to the place of freedom we have experienced. We need to be cautious; we keep self-righteousness out of our lives but continue in grace with the stories of others.
