Breaktime: Unwrapping Love

Unwrapping Love

Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. I John 4:7,8

This gift of love God gives to those who receive will, in turn, be the love given to one another. When we stop receiving God’s gift of love, we stop giving. What if this Christmas, God wanted you to stop and unwrap this gift of love all over again. What if you readily opened it, and instead of putting it back, you allowed this gift to become your reality. What if this free gift had no other strings attached, could you receive it?

One of the most difficult gifts to receive is love from God. For most of us, we don’t believe we deserve love. But friends, don’t wait until you deserve it because you never will. We receive and allow His love to come in all the doorways of our lives. We hold nothing back from receiving but pray and continue to ask God to show us how. Jesus is love because He is God, and God is love.

The greatest of all gifts we can receive is Jesus, and the greatest of all gifts we can give is His love. What if we wrapped up the gift of unfailing love and gave it away. It may be hard to imagine giving love because our feelings may be saying something contrary. But this is where the unconditional love of God becomes more potent than our emotions. God’s love doesn’t start with a feeling; it begins with the truth of His love for us.
